Indo-American Kashmir Forum (IAKF, www.iakf.org) organized a rally today outside UN office in New York, New York (USA) to highlight the human rights violations against Kashmiri Hindus, the original inhabitants of Kashmir, India. Scores of Kashmiri Hindus lined up outside UN office in New York City holding placards highlighting the ethnic cleansing Kashmiri Hindus have suffered at the hands of Pakistan aided and sponsored Islamic terrorists operating in Kashmir.

Volunteers handed out informative flyers to the local masses. IAKF expressed hope that the United Nations will take notice of the violation of Kashmiri Hindus’ human rights and their ethnic cleansing from their homeland. IAKF also solicited UN’s humanitarian interest and sympathy to save the endangered community of Kashmiri Hindus and to create conditions conducive for their honorable and secure return to their homeland in Kashmir. In a memorandum that was submitted to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, IAKF demanded that UN direct the Government of India to set up a ‘Commission of Enquiry’ to establish the causes that led to the selective and targeted killings of Kashmiri Hindus and their subsequent forced exile, and appropriate the responsibility and punish the guilty.

Community activists also condemned the role of Pakistan in promoting global Islamic terrorism. IAKF condemned Pakistan’s direct as well as indirect support in harboring Islamic terrorists belonging to Al-Qaeda and Taliban. American tax-dollars that have been sent to Pakistan to counter Al-Qaeda and Taliban are in fact being diverted to support terrorist outfits operating in Afghanistan and India. In light of recent reports from the CIA and other agencies, IAKF asserted that it is time for United States government to enforce stricter demands with the Pakistani government in controlling sources of and funding to terrorist groups, including the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Kashmiri terrorist group that has declared a jihad against the United States in its manifesto.
